WB Jarvis

WB Jarvis (Bill) has been an artist for many years.  His talent for balance, color and form are the qualities most talked about in his art.  Bill’s style is often referred to as Geometric Abstraction which is abstract art based on the use of geometric forms.

Although the genre was popularized by avant-garde artists in the early twentieth century, similar motifs have been used in art since ancient times.  As with all abstract art there is no attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality but instead uses shapes, colors, forms and gestural marks to achieve its effect.  It is thought to convey a sense of simplicity and purity.

Bill holds a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of San Franciscoas well as a 100 ton United States Coast Guard Captains license for both Power and Sail.  He also teaches sailboat and powerboat handling when he is not painting.
Bill and his family live in Alameda California with their English Labrador Retriever Scout and a boat named Impatient.
